Importing and exporting account groups
Bring your account groups in from a spreadsheet, or take them out — on one page that matches your columns for you.
Your account groups can be brought in from a spreadsheet or taken out to one. Open Masters → Account Group → Import / Export, with an Import tab and an Export tab.
What the columns mean
| Column | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Account Group Name | The group name. The only column you must map. |
| Under Group (Parent) | The parent group this one sits under, written by name. |
| Primary | Whether this is a top-level group — Yes or No. |
| Nature | What it represents on your statements — asset, liability, income, expense, or equity. |
| Role | A finer classification such as customer, vendor, bank, or cash. |
Add new, or also update?
- Add new + update existing — new groups are added; groups you already have are updated for the columns you mapped (a blank cell is left alone, so it never wipes an existing nature or role).
- Add new only — only brand-new groups are added; existing ones are untouched.
Only the name is required
Everything else is optional. Use Download template for a ready-made starting sheet. On the Export tab, press Export to Excel to download your groups.
