Item groups
Categories for your products that keep a big catalogue navigable and power group-wise discounts and reports.
Item groups (Masters → Item Group) are the categories your products fall into — Raw Material, Finished Goods, Spare Parts, whatever fits your trade. They keep a large catalogue easy to browse and let you act on a whole category at once.
Why they earn their keep
- Group-wise reporting — see stock and movement rolled up by category.
- Group-level discounts — set a discount rule for an entire group instead of item by item.
- Faster billing — narrowing by group makes the item search quicker on busy counters.

Create the group
Open Masters → Item Group, add a name, and save. Use Add multiple to enter several groups in a row and save them together (press Ctrl+Enter to add each to the list, Ctrl+S to save). Large catalogues can be brought in by import.

Assign items to it
Pick the group on each item in the Item master — or set it while creating the item.
