Opening Trial Balance
Every account's balance brought forward as on a date — the exact position you started a period with.
Reports → Opening Trial Balance answers a precise question: *what was each account's balance at the start of this date?* It takes the master opening balance and adds everything posted before the date you pick, so you see the position you carried into the period — before a single entry of that period.
Choosing the date
- As-on gives the opening as a single date stands.
- Range gives the opening at the start of a period you select.
- Search account-wise or account-group-wise — picking a group quietly includes all its sub-groups.
It always agrees with the rest of your books
The figure here matches the Opening column of the Trial Balance and the opening of the same account's ledger — to the paisa. It is the same truth, shown from the start line.
Best used after year-end
Once a financial year closes, open this as on the first day of the new year to confirm every balance carried forward exactly as it should.
